Momsense by Any Other Name is Confusing

Which “Momsense” blog is right for me?

Sometimes when you poke around on the Web you find some pretty interesting stuff. For example, recently I discovered that there are five (count ‘em) five blogs with the word “momsense” in the title, and those are just the ones that come up on the first two pages of a Yahoo search! (Who knows how many additional instances of “momsense” there are on later pages?)

You’ve got everything from a thingee called The Momsense (a medical device for breast feeding mothers) to a magazine called Momsense, to comedian Anita Renfroe’s Internet song sensation William Tell Momsense (featured at the end of this post–a hilarious mustsee!), which was later changed to William Tell Momisms (presumably for the same reasons I’m changing the name of my blog).

And don’t even get me started on the several Amazon books with titles that also capitalize on “momsense”.

In fact, when you search on “momsense” on the Internet you get 10 pages of mindboggling results. Unfortunately, “momsense” is more used on the Web than a lone, tattered tissue in a classroom full of flu-infested preschoolers.

So much for thinking I was uniquely clever when I came up with my blog name last November.

It’s Common Sense to Get Rid of Momsense

Because I don’t want to end up on page 10 of a Web search (or even on page two) and because I pride myself on being painfully distinctive, I’ve decided to change the name of my blog to Nonsense to Mom’s Sense (of Humor), which is way less overexposed and more of what my blog is all about anyway. My URL will remain the same (because who wants to go through the headache of changing all of THAT?), so if you have me bookmarked I’ll still come up when you click on your bookmarked link.

Which way to Stacy Dymalski’s hilarious blog?

And if you already follow me, you’ll still get emails whenever I submit new posts. I just wanted to give you the heads up so you didn’t think, “Who the heck is this lunatic?” when you saw my blog email notifications in your inbox with a new blog name. Don’t worry, you still get the same quirky sense of humor, still the same irreverent take on parenthood and life, still the same cranky blathering about everything from boneheaded bumper stickers to new names for your cul-de-snatch, just all packaged under a new, more individualistic name.

And by the way, since we’re on the subject, I noticed that when I switched my blog from wordpress.com to wordpress.org earlier in the year, over half my followers did not transfer! (A function of WordPress, not my followers.) I went from about 1,000 followers down to about 340. So my question to you all is this: Did any of you have to re-follow me after I switched to wordpress.org? What I’d really like to ask is, “How many of you were unceremoniously dropped from my follow list when I made the switch?” But that would be kind of silly, since that’s like asking, “How many times did you almost win the lottery?” (Geez, how would I know?)

Anyway, heads up on the name change. Nonsense to Momsense is now called Nonsense to Mom’s Sense (of Humor). Make a mental note and keep reading my humorous ramblings! (It’s good for your soul to giggle at least a few times a week. And it’s my honor to make that happen for you.)
